Pueblo Bonito Hotels & Resorts is scheduled to open a new
luxurious yet holistic resort on the Pacific Ocean side of the Baja
Peninsula in Cabo San Lucas.
To be called Pacifica Holistic Retreat & Spa, the resort is
on the pristine beach where the movie “Troy” was filmed. The
property is designed to make best use of the naturally calming
surroundings, with ocean views, fountains and reflecting pools, and
grounds landscaped with colorful cactus and other native
plants.
Accommodations aim to reflect the resort’s motif of “luxury
without indulgence,” with monochromatic colors of desert sand
accented by mosaic artwork insets. The 154 rooms are decorated with
sand-and-ivory colored window treatments, and concrete valences
form a smooth visual transition from bed to sea.
The restaurant, called Siempre, offers both a wellness-oriented
spa menu and more indulgent offerings for the occasional splurge.
The resort also offers 24-hour room service, a pool bar called
Aire, and two additional cafes and bars one of which is a juice
bar.
At the center of the resort is the spa called Armonia, a fitness
facility combined with a holistic wellness center. There is a
state-of-the-art exercise studio, six treatment rooms with
“waterfall windows,” a VIP couples chamber, an indoor Jacuzzi,
steam, sauna, cold plunge and Swiss shower room.
Fitness professionals will plan out workout regimes and create a
“body plan” for each guest during their stay, with one-on-one
sessions and group classes available.
The general manager of Pacifica, Dr. Alejandro Santander, is a
practicing physician and is also available for private
consultations.
In addition to the body-oriented treatments, guests can focus on
mind and soul with classes on cactus care, photography and
relaxation techniques, garden tours, and opportunities to hear
guest speakers.
In an effort to create a fully restful environment, the resort
is also designed with “second” hallways and underground passages to
allow staff members to move discreetly throughout the property. All
of the water used for drinking, cooking, gardening, laundry, pools
and displays is desalinated seawater recycled in an on-property
treatment facility.
Pueblo Bonito Hotels operates three other resorts in Cabo San
Lucas, and plans to open another called Pueblo Bonito Pacifica next
year. The company also operates two resorts in Mazatlan, and one in
Puerto Vallarta. Another five-star resort in Puerto Vallarta, to be
called Pueblo Bonito Punta Mita, is also scheduled to open in
2005.
