Hotel Review: Iberostar Paraiso Maya

Most travelers are familiar with the idea of an all-inclusive vacation, even if they have never experienced one themselves. At Iberostar's Playa Paraiso complex in Riviera Maya, however, both all-inclusive novices and experts will be surprised at how the concept is taken to another level.

Located on the beautiful beaches of the Riviera Maya between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, the Iberostar Playa Paraiso complex consists of one Grand resort (Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso, which is for adults only), two Premium Gold resorts (Iberostar Paraiso Lindo and Iberostar Paraiso Maya) and two Premium resorts (Iberostar Paraiso Beach and Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar). Guests can use the facilities at any of the resorts in their category or below.

For example, guests at the Grand have access to all five properties, while guests at the entry-level Premium resorts can only use either of those two. Regardless of what kind of resort a guests select, all five properties are AAA Four Diamond rated and offer superior accommodations, dining and amenities.

One of the biggest conflicts between parents and kids on family vacations is independence: Kids want the freedom to be on their own, while parents often worry about their safety. This is not an issue at Iberostar Paraiso Maya. The grounds are perfectly safe for kids to walk around independently, and staff members are always immediately accessible should anyone need assistance.

Parents and kids alike can enjoy a range of activities at the resort, including archery, bike tours and billiards; sports such as basketball, volleyball and tennis; and a wide variety of water activities including kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba.

"Outfitted with the only wave pool in Riviera Maya, a lazy river and our Star Cafe — perfect for a caffeine pick-me-up or snack — Iberostar Paraiso Maya is ideal for family fun," said John Long, vice president of sales and marketing for Iberostar Hotels and Resorts. "With an interactive teen club for organized day activities and a teen disco for nightly entertainment, the hotel will keep any energetic youth engaged throughout their stay."

In addition, each resort boasts several specialty restaurants featuring a variety of international cuisines ranging from Japanese to Cajun, and, of course, Mexican. Among the choices are Jambalaya at Iberostar Paraiso Lindo, which serves distinctive New Orleans dishes in a fun and lively atmosphere, and La Geisha at Iberostar Paraiso Maya, which offers diners an interactive experience with skillful chefs preparing delicious Japanese food on teppanyaki grills — a particular thrill for kids and adult alike is the flaming onion volcano. Agents should note that reservations at all of the specialty restaurants are based on the number of registered nights.

Located on a beautiful beach with a fantastic jungle adventure nearby, the unlimited sun, fun and food makes Iberostar Paraiso Maya a great choice for kids — which means their parents will have a relaxing vacation as well.
