How to Match Clients With the Perfect Acapulco Hotel

One visit to Acapulco, and it’s easy to see why the Mexican seaport is affectionately dubbed “The Pearl of the Pacific.” And with Volaris’ new nonstop flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Acapulco, there’s even more of an incentive to vacation here.

Clients can still watch the famed La Quebrada Cliff Divers and take in the local history, but they can also experience new attractions such as Xtasea — the world’s longest overwater zipline, where they’ll zoom across Puerto Marques Bay at 75 mph — and a boat tour of Laguna de Tres Palos to see local wildlife.

With so many ways to keep active, travelers will need sufficient rest. Thankfully, Acapulco has no shortage of hotels. Here’s our guide to matching clients with their perfect property.

The Romantic: Banyan Tree Cabo Marques
Located on a lush hillside above Punta Diamante, overlooking Santa Lucia Bay, Banyan Tree Cabo Marques prides itself on being the only AAA Five Diamond award-winner in Acapulco, and it’s easy to see why.

Each of its 45 private villas features the brand’s signature Asian-inspired architecture accented with local decor. Accommodations range from intimate treehouses to majestic oceanfront rooms complete with private infinity pools, affording a unique, secluded experience tailored to the hopeless romantic.

The Minimalist: Encanto Acapulco
A sleek, modernist design distinguishes Encanto Acapulco, which expertly integrates its natural surroundings. The 44-room property, located high above Brisas del Marques, features room categories ranging from ocean suites to deluxe villas; two restaurants; a bar; and magnificent ocean views. Amenities include a spa, a mini-theater and a family room complete with a library.

The Family: Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco
With deluxe rooms, junior one-bedroom suites and a master suite with three bedrooms and a full kitchen, the 324-room Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco is ideal for small groups and families. Located in the middle of Acapulco’s vibrant Condesa district, the hotel offers a range of activities — from scuba diving to bungee jumping — plus three restaurants, two bars and two pools with ocean views. A major remodel is slated for 2019.

The Nostalgic: Las Brisas Acapulco
Las Brisas Acapulco is a 1950s-era landmark hotel distinguished by a signature pink hue and a fleet of Jeeps bearing handwritten names of former guests — singer Placido Domingo, actress Lynda Carter and actor Mel Gibson are among them.

The property features modern amenities steeped in old-Hollywood charm, and accommodations vary in size and opulence, from those with a shared terrace and pool to the ultra-luxurious La Roqueta Presidential Suite, with its indoor jacuzzi and private pool. When not sipping on rose-colored cocktails at the picturesque Sunset Bar, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s spa and beauty salon.

The Eclectic: Mundo Imperial
Mundo Imperial is a Mexican-owned brand that oversees three hotels in Acapulco. The 229-room Pierre Mundo Imperial has a retro vibe, thanks to its location on a property originally built by industrialist J. Paul Getty. The 47-year-old Aztec-themed Princess Mundo Imperial, meanwhile, also has a nostalgic feel and offers 1,011 rooms and five pools.

There’s also a resident parrot and pair of flamingos that live on-property. Resort Mundo Imperial, built in 2014, has more than 1,500 rooms, including a penthouse suite with a private elevator and a pool-size Jacuzzi.
