Iberostar Debuts New Spa on Riviera Maya

Aug 01, 2006

Guests staying at any of the four Iberostar Playa Paraiso resorts on the Riviera Maya can kick back, relax, breathe free and awaken all their senses at the resort’s latest state-of-the-art health and wellness center.

Available to those staying at Iberostar Paraiso Maya, Iberostar Paraiso Lindo, Iberostar Paraiso Beach and Iberostar Paraiso del Mar, the spacious 27,000-square-foot El Spa features 28 treatment rooms with soothing decor. Visitors enjoy saunas, jet and effusion showers, Hamman steam rooms, Jacuzzis, Hydrotherapy treatment rooms and Thalasso therapy pools.

El Spa indulges with its large salt water swimming pool and water massage fountains, underwater music system and comfortable lounge chairs positioned beneath a painted sky-lit ceiling. Just outside the pool area, an enclosed courtyard offers heated lounge chairs, surrounded by a shallow moat of moving water for Hydrotherapy exercise.

Guests of the top-tier Iberostar Paraiso Maya have free access to the wet areas of the spa anytime. Those staying at the other three hotels in the complex have free access to those areas when booking a spa treatment or paying an entrance fee.

They can select from a range of holistic, relaxing, revitalizing and esthetic spa treatments delivered by certified therapists, including Shiatsu and Aromatherapy Baths. Between treatments, El Spa patrons can enjoy complimentary fresh-squeezed fruit and vegetable juices at the bar on the lower level.

Those wishing to invigorate their senses can indulge in an exotic Grape Bath, a sub-aquatic massage using the relaxing and rejuvenating power of grapes. For a sweet sensation, chocoholics may opt for El Spa’s Chocolate Wrap massage, which helps produce endorphins and fight cellulite.

For the adventurous, El Spa offers a Temazcal ceremony from the mystic pre-Hispanic Nahuatl culture. The Temazcal is performed by a pre-Hispanic therapy expert outside the main facility in small clay huts that are heated intensely with hot stones.

Participants combine music therapy using ethnic instruments that emit animal-like sounds with mystical chants. Aromatherapy from native flowers and plants, and a specially cured mud designed to bring body and mind into a complete state of equilibrium increase spiritual strength and communion with Mother Nature.

In addition to use of the new El Spa facility, guests at the four Iberostar Playa Paraiso resorts enjoy all-inclusive convenience. Daily rates cover accommodations, all meals and snacks, drinks and cocktails, room service, fitness center, kids camp, activities, nightly entertainment, gratuities and more.
