Kessler Canyon Luxury

When surrounded by 23,000 acres of mostly untouched land along the western slopes of the Colorado Rockies, it’s hard not to feel connected to Mother Nature.

While Kessler Canyon is set on scenic terrain so vast that it seems to stretch on forever, the luxurious resort features just 13 guestrooms and two suites. The property provides an exceptionally intimate experience that allows guests to recharge at their own pace.

Not surprisingly, the resort attracts big-game hunters, although novice marksmen are also welcome and can hone their skills at the new Kessler Canyon Shooting Academy.

Still, classifying this as a destination just for sportsmen would be shortsighted.

There are plenty of other recreational activities, as well as an attentive staff who provide hands-on lessons, including ATV and jeep tours, hiking, biking, canoeing and fly-fishing. Guests can even try their hand at Hammock Swinging 101.

Foodie travelers should certainly experience cowboy chef Lenny McNab, who performs daily works of culinary art. McNab has an open-kitchen policy, and anyone is welcome to grab an apron and help with meal preparations. At night, Chef Lenny transforms into his alter ego, Black Mamba, when he dons a rhinestone jacket and entertains guests with original works of cowboy songs and poetry.

Clients seeking a retreat from their daily lives will love Kessler Canyon. A member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the resort is located about an hour from the Grand Junction Airport.
