Just a few of the recent headlines from the hotel world include new hotels in 2021 and 2022 for Edition Hotels; new properties and recently completed renovation projects from Omni Hotels & Resorts; and a third-party verified health and safety rating for Loews Hotels. Read on for all the details.
International Expansion Slated for Edition Hotels
Edition Hotels has announced plans to open eight new properties across three continents by the end of 2022. As the Edition brand currently features 11 hotels worldwide, the upcoming openings mark a major expansion for the company, bringing its portfolio to a total of 19 global properties.
The locations of the new hotels include Reykjavik (Iceland), Tokyo, Rome, Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Madrid (Spain), Tampa (Florida), Riviera Maya (Mexico) and Doha (Qatar). First up will be The Reykjavik Edition, slated for a summer 2021 opening in the heart of downtown Reykjavik with 253 guestrooms and suites, a rooftop, nightlife offerings and a spa. In late 2021, the brand plans to debut The Tokyo Edition, Ginza (its second Tokyo property, with 86 rooms); The Rome Edition, its first hotel in Italy; and The Dubai Edition, located opposite the famed Dubai Mall.

Clients looking for hotels with enhanced health and safety policies will now feel especially comfortable booking Loews Hotels & Co properties, as the company has become one of the first hospitality brands to receive the Well Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management through the International Well Building Institute. The rating applies to Loews’ entire portfolio, with the exception of its hotels in Orlando (which are part of Universal Orlando Resort).
The rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified assessment that evaluates cleaning and sanitization procedures, health services, air and water quality management, innovation inclusive of enhanced ventilation and particle filtration, emergency preparedness programs and more.
“This recognition builds upon the exemplary operations already in place across the brand, while offering the opportunity to refine processes that equip our properties not just during COVID-19, but also for the future,” said Jenny Lucas, senior vice president of operations for Loews Hotels & Co.
