Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts held the grand
opening of its ninth hotel in Mexico, the Presidente
InterContinental Villa Mercedes Merida. Set in a 19th-century
mansion, the residential art nouveau style design boasts 127 deluxe
rooms and four suites.
“We are very excited to open the Presidente InterContinental
Villa Mercedes Merida, which is one of the most storied properties
in the area,” remarked Gordon Viberg, managing director of
Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. “It will bring
its brand and its level of service to the hotel, while keeping in
step with the personality of the area.”
The property reflects the colonial past of Merida, yet offers
all of the services and amenities of the Presidente
InterContinental hotel brand. Even it’s location is prime, just 100
meters off Paseo Montejo, a broad tree-lined avenue built in the
late 1880s to resemble the Champs Elysees in Paris. Today, the
popular thoroughfare brims with cafes, restaurants, museums,
upscale shops and mansions.
The new Presidente InterContinental offers two special-access
Executive Floors, 24-hour room service, an advanced business center
and fitness center. The hotel’s meeting space encompasses nine
spacious, state-of-the-art rooms capable of hosting up to 350
persons. The Merida Convention Center is situated just minutes from
the hotel.
Nightly rates are from $109 for deluxe accommodations.
Other Presidente InterContinental properties can be found in
Mexico City, Cancun, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Los Cabos,
Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta.
