WHAT: “Bienvenidos Rosenberg familia,” read the sign at the entrance to the Family Concierge Lounge at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun Resort on Mexico’s Riviera Maya. My husband and I, along with our two sons, were happily ushered into a special air-conditioned lounge for check-in. The Family Lounge is the first touch guests experience when booking a Family Concierge suite at the resort, but what follows is a well-thought-out vacation with plenty of kid-friendly touches.
WHERE: The Paradisus Riviera Cancun Resort is located on the Yucatan Peninsula near the town of Puerto Morelos and is only about 10 minutes from the Cancun International Airport.

GUESTROOMS: With 72 Family Concierge Ocean View or Garden View suites, the property is a true family resort. Sixteen of the suites feature connecting rooms. Each 452-square-foot family suite offers specially designed child-size amenities including: mini bathrobes, toiletries, towels and pillows; milk and cookies in the minibar; and special turndown services. I also appreciated the ample draw space and large closet.
FAMILY CONCIERGE: One of the benefits of staying in a Family Concierge-level suite is access to the Family Lounge, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to assist with dining reservations, transportation needs and general inquiries.
In addition, as Family Concierge guests, we were able to reserve our own beach chairs and umbrella in the family beach area — something we greatly appreciated when we found that every poolside chair had been claimed by 7 a.m.
Other Family Concierge amenities include a welcome amenity for kids with a paddle ball set, waffle ball set and beach ball; walkie-talkies for easy on-resort communication; and an in-room PlayStation upon request.
FOR KIDS: While the Paradisus hugs a beautiful beach, between the swim-up bar with kid-friendly smoothies and sodas and splashing under the pool’s central fountain, my kids found more enjoyment in the main swimming pool.
The resort also boasts one of the best kids’ clubs I’ve ever seen. The facilities include a kids’ pool and a wading pool; a play area with swings, a slide and sandbox; a nursery for babies and toddlers; and a game room for older kids with video games, air hockey, pool and pingpong tables. Club services include babysitting for infants from two months old to up to 4 years old, as well as daily supervised games, crafts and activities for kids ages 5 to 12.
RATES: Family Concierge Garden View Suite: $350-$380, per room. Family Concierge Ocean View Suite: $375-$400, per room.
SPECIALS: Kids under age 12 stay free through Dec. 20 when visiting with a paying adult.
