Rosewood San Miguel de Allende to Debut in January

Dec 04, 2010
A lot of time was spent making sure that the new Rosewood San Miguel de Allende wouldn’t stand out in a crowd. The newly constructed property, set to debut in January, was designed to blend in with its colonial setting, ensuring that visitors feel as though they have stepped into the heart of the town, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The resort, nestled among cobblestone streets, will feature 67 uniquely appointed guestrooms as well as several dining areas, a Rosewood Spa, event space and an outdoor amphitheater.

Plans call for cuisine to be a tour de force at the property. The resort is focused on serving farm-to-table specialties, artisan cheeses, wine pairings and more. A highlight will be its Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar, serving savory, authentically prepared Mexican and Spanish tapas. The al fresco setting will provide views of La Parroquia, the city and its magnificent sunsets.

The hotel’s main restaurant, the 1826 Bar and Restaurant, celebrates the history of San Miguel de Allende and pays tribute to the city’s founder, Ignacio de Allende.

Food here will be locally produced, authentic and innovative. The patio is set amid a vibrant garden and, indoors, guests will have a view of the open artisan kitchen. Guests can also take advantage of Agua, the resort’s poolside restaurant and bar.

For a more personal dining experience and special occasions, clients can dine on guestroom terraces and in the hotel’s gardens. Private groups can also take advantage of La Cava, the resort’s 2,000-bottle wine room, where special tasting menus and wine pairings can be arranged.

Another focus of the property is on art, which plays an important role in the everyday lives of San Miguel de Allende’s citizens. Many visitors are interested in locally produced pieces so, to that end, the property will offer an art concierge whom guests can consult regarding tours, attendance at artist workshops, meeting local artists, advice about purchases and more.

One of Rosewood’s signature elements found throughout many of its properties is the ability to create a sense of place, and the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende will be no exception. According to plans, its 67 rooms and suites will be filled with local, handmade items, without sacrificing modern amenities. Each room will feature traditional wood-beamed ceilings and private balconies (or terraces on the ground floor). Colonial rooms will offer 570 square feet, a king-size or queen-size bed and a soaking tub in the bathroom. Deluxe colonial rooms will feature a king-size bed, 640 square feet of space and a stone hearth. Rooftop Colonial rooms have an additional 35 square feet of space as well as furnished terraces and spectacular views. Clients will be also be able to choose from a variety of suite options ranging from 700 to 4,000 square feet.

Standard amenities will include a fireplace, a welcome gift, a state-of-the-art entertainment system and satellite channels, a refreshment center, fresh fruit, high-speed Internet access, luxury bath amenities and more.
