Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide recently announced that its Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand will expand worldwide with the addition of 50 new hotels and more than 20,000 guestrooms in 15 different countries over the next three years — an investment estimated to cost more than $4 billion.
Sheraton, which is Starwood’s largest and most global brand, currently has more than 400 properties in 70 different countries with a suggested 93 percent global awareness among business travelers.
New properties are scheduled to open in the U.S., Columbia, India, Russia, Slovakia, Taiwan and Vietnam, as well as in China, where the brand will nearly double its presence with a total of 28 new properties, including the Sheraton Shanghai Hong Kou Hotel, Sheraton Qingdao and Sheraton Huadu Resort. Sheraton will also add 10 new resorts to its portfolio, expand its presence in New York City with new hotels in Brooklyn and Tribeca and open several new convention hotels.
Last year, Sheraton completed a three-year, multibillion-dollar global brand overhaul that encompassed an investment of more than $4 billion in new hotels, renovations and signature brand initiatives in North America and another $2 billion in new hotels overseas.
