What was formerly known as the Hotel Sierra Cancun closed at the
end of August for an overhaul that will transform the property into
a new luxury hotel brand for Palace Resorts.
Le Blanc Spa Resort, as it will be called, will be an upscale,
all-inclusive, adults only property debuting in winter 2005.
The resort, which is in the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone, will
feature all white interiors, including walls, ceilings and
furniture, with contemporary and minimalist decorations and
tropical and Mexican touches.
Renovations are being directed by Elias & Elias Arquitectos,
the interior design firm known for the Hotel Grand Velas Puerto
Vallarta, Casa Club de Golf Cabo del Sol, and Hotel Sheraton Los
Cabos.
All guest rooms will be converted to suites with Jacuzzis. The
resort will include a state-of-the-art spa, meeting facilities, and
three specialty restaurants.
Guests will also be able to enjoy candle light dinners on a boat
while touring the resort’s private lagoon, which will be
interconnected with Cancun’s ancient Mayan Nichupte Lagoon.
“Le Blanc Spa Resort reassures our commitment to the growth and
strength of Mexico’s travel industry,” said Roberto Chapur,
president of Palace Resorts. “It is the answer to the demand of the
growing upscale market in Cancun. Le Blanc will attract the
sophisticated traveler seeking a luxurious, all-inclusive
alternative that will revitalize their vacation experience and
exceed their expectations.”
Earlier this year, Palace took over three other resorts in
Mexico: the former Hotel Continental Plaza Playacar, which is now
named the Playacar Palace; the Hotel Plaza Las Glorias Cozumel,
which has been renamed Cozumel Palace; and the Hotel Sierra Nuevo
Vallarta, which is now called the Vallarta Palace.
The three properties are also being renovated. Playcar Palace
and Cozumel Palace closed at the end of August and are expected to
reopen Dec. 24. The Vallarta Palace has remained open during
renovations.
