Donald J. Trump is teaming up with Los Angeles-based Irongate
Development to build a 562-suite luxury hotel-condominium resort in
Northern Baja, just minutes from the border. Introducing a new
level of style and sophistication to the upper-peninsula, Trump
Ocean Resort Baja will be the first resort to combine first-class
service and amenities with the option of real estate ownership.
“Trump Ocean Resort Baja will redefine the standard of premier
property ownership and service excellence for all of Northern
Mexico,” said Trump. “I’ve always said, ‘location is everything,’
and being just 30 minutes from downtown San Diego makes this an
ideal locale for a premier resort property.”
Architecture and design will mimic the mid-century influences of
Luis Barragan, the “father of Mexican modernism.” In addition, a
cliff-side location overseeing the Pacific Ocean and walking trails
are some characteristics designed to blend indoor and outdoor
environments. Other offerings include an owner’s concierge; a pool
house bar and café; a restaurant; a health, fitness, and spa
centers; an infinity-edge pool, lap and family pools; and a tennis
center.
“We’re very pleased to be embarking on our second project with the
Trump Organization,” said Jason Grosfeld, principal of Irongate
Development, which is also partnering with Trump on the Trump
International Hotel and Tower Waikiki Beach Walk. “We have a
world-class property, a world-class design team led by Guerin Glass
Architects, also lead architect on the Trump Tower Waikiki, and HOK
out of Mexico City, and now a world-class name to pull the resort
together.”
Construction of the resort is set to begin late 2006, with
completion to be over the next three to four years.
Rates for studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom suites will start
at about $250.
Trump has created casinos, first-class hotels and resorts,
championship golf courses, and has set standards in merchandising
and entertainment.
Other Trump projects currently underway include residences, hotels
and golf clubs in Chicago, Las Vegas, Florida, Los Angeles, the
Caribbean, New York and New Jersey.
