It was obvious during our Christmas visit to Vail, Colo., that this year was going to be a good one for snow-lovers traveling to the Colorado Rockies. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left and headed for Denver, the snowfall did not let up. But, there was another reason that it was going to be a good year for Vail. The resort city saw the opening of two distinctive new resorts — the Sebastian Hotel and the Four Seasons Resort Vail.
On a recent tour of the Four Seasons Resort Vail, I got to see, in person, what makes the resort a standout luxury experience in the Rockies. From the moment you walk through the door, five-star luxury awaits. Clients familiar with the Four Seasons brand will feel right at home in the lobby, which is typical of an alpine lodge with hickory wood and limestone interiors. Large picture windows with stunning vistas of Vail Resort bring the outdoors in while overstuffed couches and dark leather chairs make the room feel cozy and warm.
The resort is made up of 97 guestrooms and 24 suites as well as 19 Residence Club vacation condominiums. The resort features a variety of suites and connecting rooms so that families can stay close by, and selected residences are available for families or groups who desire kitchens and/or separate living rooms.
One of the best features of the property is the Four Seasons Ski Concierge service at the Vista Bahn chairlift. Upon check-in, guests can leave their skis, snowboards, boots and anything else they would like to have stored with the concierge. A locker is set up for them at the ski concierge facility, featuring a lounge, rental equipment and a ski shop for tuning and waxing skis and boards. Hot drinks and muffins are available here for midday snacking and, at the end of the day, guests can leave their gear and head straight back to the resort on foot or by private shuttle.
Clients don’t have to be skiers or snowboarders to appreciate all that the Four Seasons Resort Vail has to offer, however. The property also features a 14,000-square-foot spa with 13 treatment rooms — an easy place to spend the day being pampered. There is also a beautiful outdoor pool — heated, of course.
Also new to the Colorado hotel landscape is the Four Seasons Hotel Denver. Located on 14th Street, just blocks away from the 16th Street Mall, shops, restaurants and across from the Denver Center for Performing Arts, the newly built 239-room property is sure to be popular with clients headed to the Mile-High City. The hotel features the Edge Restaurant, a sophisticated bar and steakhouse, as well as a beautiful fireplace in a lively lobby setting. If clients are escaping to Denver for a weekend, the hotel’s spa, housing 10 treatment rooms, is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Clients can will also enjoy relaxing on the outdoor pool deck. The hotel is also a well suited for groups. There is more than 17,000 square feet of meeting and breakout space available, making the property ideal for weddings, as well.
