Some of the biggest hotel brands around the globe are making major moves in 2022, from betting big on all-inclusive travel to investing in hot markets and doubling down on sustainability and diversity efforts.
Here’s a roundup of the latest hotel news from Hyatt, Marriott International and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Hyatt Introduces New All-Inclusive Collection
Tapping into demand for all-inclusive vacations, Hyatt has introduced its Inclusive Collection, encompassing nine luxury resort brands, including AMR Collection properties. The all-inclusive offerings include Hyatt Ziva resorts, Zoetry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Breathless Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Alua Hotels & Resorts, Sunscape Resorts & Spas and Vivid Hotels & Resorts (coming soon). Clients who are World of Hyatt members will also now enjoy program benefits at more than 50 Inclusive Collection resorts in destinations such as Mexico, the Caribbean, Costa Rica and Panama (European properties are expected soon).

New Marriott Hotels in Latin America, the Caribbean and Mexico
This year, Marriott International is poised to open an impressive 22 hotels in Latin America, the Caribbean and Mexico. A few already-operating properties include Fairfield Medellin Sabaneta, which opened Feb. 1 in Colombia; the JW Marriott Hotel Guadalajara, which debuted last month in Mexico; and Brazil’s new JW Marriott Hotel Sao Paolo, introduced in May in the city’s financial district.

Credit: 2022 Marriott InternationalThe Westin, Porto de Galinhas in Brazil — an all-inclusive hotel — is another second-quarter opening for Marriott this year, while 2022’s third quarter is slated to see the debut of the Marriott Barranquilla in Colombia. Late this year, the company will also make two noteworthy additions to Mexico’s Riviera Maya. The Riviera Maya Edition will be located in the upscale Kanai development, and will feature 180 guestrooms and suites, six food and beverage outlets, an expansive outdoor deck for events and other amenities. The St. Regis Kanai Resort, meanwhile, will showcase unique architecture inspired by Maya astronomy, housing 124 guestrooms and suites, plus 32 villas with private pools. Four food and beverage options, swimming pools and two 18-hole golf courses will round out the offerings.
Wyndham’s Latest Commitments to Sustainability and DEI
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is underscoring its commitment to operating in socially, ethically and environmentally responsible ways.
When it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), Wyndham has introduced its “Women Own the Room” program, specifically targeting women’s advancement in hotel ownership. The innovative program is designed to empower female entrepreneurs and help them break through the predominantly male-dominated hotel industry.
What’s more, Wyndham was recognized by DiversityInc for leading diversity practices in 2022, and was also named one of Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity 2022. For the fourth consecutive year, the company received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index, which measures LGBTQ workplace equality.

By 2025, the company has committed to reducing carbon emissions, achieving 100% renewable energy at corporate headquarters and North American offices and more. In recognition of its efforts, Wyndham was named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies for 2022 by Newsweek.
