The winners of the 2022 Eviivo Awards — which calls itself “the Oscars of independent accommodations” — were announced during a virtual ceremony on March 24, that included a celebrity appearance by actor David Hasselhoff.

This year’s winners include Liberty House in Alexandria, Va. (Hottest Property); Montfair Resort Farm in Crozet, Va. (Unsung Hero); and Sandy Shores in Redgranite, Wis. (Outstanding Host).

“We were overjoyed with the high standard and volume of entries we received for this year’s awards,” said Michele Fitzpatrick, CEO at Eviivo. “It was great to see so many hosts and hoteliers across the board — from B&Bs and independent hotels to self-catering rentals, apartments and alternative accommodation providers — all doing such a brilliant job.”

The awards are designed to highlight independent accommodations, many of which were significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The winners were selected by a panel of industry experts, which included TravelAge West Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Ken Shapiro. The panel judged finalists across a number of different criteria, with each winner collecting a grand prize of $1,000 to put toward their property, and every finalist receiving $250.

"It’s inspiring to see small property owners go out of their way to make sure guests have a wonderful experience, especially when they are dealing with the ramifications of the pandemic,” Shapiro said. “These winners represent the true spirit of hospitality.”
