The Maroma Resort and Spa on the Riviera Maya has a number of
special treats planned during the holidays to help guests feel a
part of the family.
Guests can learn how to create traditional Mexican piñatas,
which are an integral part of Mexican Posadas celebrations. On
Christmas Eve, the chef will invite guests into the kitchen to help
prepare traditional Mexican dishes and cocktails, which will be
shared as a communal meal family-style. And on Christmas morning,
guests will awake to find their piñatas filled with a special gift
from the Maroma staff.
During the Christmas holiday week, afternoon teas with seasonal
treats will be offered, and holiday choirs will perform, adding to
the festive atmosphere. New Years Eve will include a Posada
celebration, as well as a Nativity and a Three Kings activity.
Rates from Dec. 19 to Jan. 3 start at $525 per night, plus tax
and tip, and include daily breakfast, ground transfers and special
holiday programming. Minimum night stays are required during peak
holiday periods.
The 64-room, hacienda-style resort has won a number of awards,
but, most recently, it was selected for the “The Best in the World
Readers Choice Award” in the Nov. 2004 issue of Conde Nast
Traveler, and ranked third in the Top 10 Central America Hotels
category.
Located about 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport on
the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maroma property includes 500-acres of
beach and a rainforest that was previously a coconut plantation.
The beach is protected by the second largest barrier reef in the
world, which provides optimum conditions for diving and other water
sports. The rustic-but-luxurious resort has three pools, tennis
courts, and a library with books on Mayan culture.
And the new Kinan Spa is scheduled to open later this year,
offering a full range of Mayan-influenced spa services in unique
environments, such as treatment rooms with private gardens, and a
roof-top “massage tower” with 360-degree views.
