Mexico’s state of Guerrero recently launched the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office to help promote travel to the popular tourist destination.
Formerly the Acapulco Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office will be responsible for encouraging leisure and corporate tourism to Acapulco.
“[We are] committed to the promotion of our beautiful destination and the positioning of the region as an ideal location for leisure travel as well as meetings and conventions,” said Jesus Radilla, director of the Destination Marketing Office.
While the organization is focused on encouraging domestic travel, it is also looking to expand to the U.S. and Canada markets.
The organization engages in market research to identify and address issues affecting travel to Acapulco and most recently developed a public relations campaign to counter the U.S. State Department’s advisory on safe travel to Mexico.
“Acapulco allows travelers to experience rich and authentic cultural offerings beyond its beaches. With an array of new hotel openings and developments in various stages of construction, the destination continues to grow and enhance its legendary appeal,” Radilla said.
The organization is also working to create a complete market research report of Acapulco in order to identify the weaknesses of the destination and maximize revenue opportunities.
