A&K Launches Lower-Price Itineraries

Aug 30, 2012

In the midst of celebrating its 50th anniversary as a luxury tour provider, Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) has announced that it will be launching a new portfolio of group tour offerings. Branded as Connections by Abercrombie & Kent, the new tours will be priced about 30 percent less than A&K’s standard journeys.

“We realized that we could deliver a true understanding of a destination’s culture without all the extra amenities that make up a luxury journey,” said Phil Otterson, president, A&K USA.

The 17 new itineraries, which will include A&K’s first group tours in North America, will span six continents and promise “an intimate, firsthand perspective of the world’s most intriguing places and cultures, combined with the same service on which A&K has built its reputation.”

Group size will remain small, with no more than 24-28 guests, providing ample one-on-one interaction with the A&K tour directors, which will set the tone for the new tours. Among A&K’s local connections are a former violinist for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, who provides a unique perspective on Vienna’s musical heritage, and a local fisherman in Croatia who shows guests how to harvest oysters.
