ASTA's Chapter Presidents Council voted 32 to 2 to discontinue
regional conferences and focus member resources and time on ASTA's
annual World Congress.
The announcement was made at ASTA's Western/Southern Regional in
Tucson.
The final conference will be the Northern Regional in Orlando
May 1-4.
ASTA said the chapter presidents wanted to focus on having
timely local events within their chapters or in conjunction with
chapters that are geographically close.
"Yesterday, there was another historic move ahead for ASTA,"
said Richard Copland, society president. "In a time when we have an
abundance of industry shows, ASTA is taking a very positive step to
consolidate its own programs. Discontinuing the Regionals allows
the chapter to focus on getting their chapter members to support
the Congress."
