In February, China Travel Service hosted a China fam trip for
travel agents who spent nine days touring Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuzi,
Suzhou and Zhouzhuang. The tour was particularly enjoyable for
participants. “This group of travel agents had great chemistry, and
made the trip so enjoyable for everyone in the group,” said CTS
tour leader Christina Liadis.

Von Imhoff Honored as Resort Executive of the
Year

Imhoff
Alaska tourism industry professional Chris von Imhoff has been
honored as the Resort Executive of the Year (2005) by hospitality
and resort industry leaders convening at the 2006 Resort Management
Conference. Imhoff, vice president and managing director for the
renowned Alyseka Resort, Seibu, in Alaska, is the 32nd individual
to be honored with this hospitality industry award.
The Resort Executive of the Year is awarded to the resort
executive who has demonstrated superior management ability, a
commitment to staff training and motivation, active participation
and leadership in lodging industry association activities, support
of legislation beneficial to the lodging industry and community
leadership.
A career tourism industry professional, Imhoff has spent the
past 42 years fostering the growth of the travel and tourism
industry primarily in Alaska, where he emigrated in 1963 from
Germany.
Torchiana Appointed Managing Director

Torchiana
Destination Hotels & Resorts has appointed Maynard Torchiana
as managing director of Wailea Beach Villas. With more than 33
years of hospitality experience, Torchiana will be responsible for
managing all aspects of the new oceanfront residences slated to
open in May.
Torchiana has been part of the Destination Hotels & Resorts
since 1978 and is currently the executive vice president for
Destination Resorts Hawaii. Prior to this role, Torchiana served as
the regional vice president for Destination Resorts Management and
was responsible for resort properties in Vail, Aspen and Steamboat
Springs, Colo.
Trafalgar Announces Sweepstakes Winner

Trafalgar has announced that Suzanne Kent from Chattanooga,
Tenn., has been drawn as the first winner of $10,000 in its
Sensational Agent Sweepstakes.
Kent was recently presented with her prize by Trafalgar
president John Severini at her office. Winners of the free trip to
Europe for two are Dawn Lechner from Wichita, Kan., and Mary Newell
