India seems to be a growing hot spot for tourism, and now China
Eastern Airlines is offering service from Los Angeles International
Airport to Delhi via Shanghai.
New regulations allow U.S. citizens who are transiting flights
in Shanghai to stay for up to 48 hours without a visa, said China
Eastern spokesman Joel Chusid, so a free stayover is an option.
Otherwise, there’s a three-hour connection in Shanghai before the
nonstop to Delhi. Transpacific flights are operated by Airbus
340-600 planes while the Shanghai-Delhi segment uses an
A300-600.
Chusid reminds agents that China Eastern pays 9 percent
commission on international flights and 5 percent on domestic China
routes. However, if agents ticket internal China flights on the
same ticket as a transpacific, they will receive 9 percent on the
entire ticket.
