Collette Vacations’ local philanthropic initiative, The Alice I. Sullivan Foundation, held its annual lunch to celebrate Children’s Friend the charity being named Collette Vacations’ 2011 Charity of the Year. A $15,000 check was presented by Lynne Kelly, Collette’s community relations manager, to Julie Casimiro, administrator of advancement, and Teri DeBoise, director of program development, for Children’s Friend. The grant is for capital improvements of their Friendship Building on Summer Street in Providence. This is the site of the Providence Head Start Program which promotes school readiness in low income pre-school children, ages 3 and 4.
In addition Collette Vacations will support its 2011 Charity of the Year through employee dress-down days; holiday giving tree support; back to school backpack and school supply drive for children entering kindergarten; and a diaper and infant formula drive in September. In April, Collette staff will be collecting new and gently used books for site libraries and for children to take home.
