Czech tourism officials advised travelers to postpone visiting the
country until at least mid-September, when the massive cleanup
efforts from the floods now under way should be completed.
Some major hotels in Prague are closed, including the Four
Seasons, the Inter-Continental Praha, the Maximilian and the Ibis
Karlin. Some hope to reopen by mid-September, but the Four Seasons
had no set date.
Elsewhere in the Czech Republic, the Renaissance town of Cesky
Krumlov finished its cleanup and officials relaunched its tourism
season with a ceremony last week.
In Dresden, Germany, floodwaters caused several hotels to shut
down. The Hilton was due to reopen at press time, but the Westin
Bellevue sustained extensive damage and won’t reopen until January,
officials said. Most of Dresden’s museums were planning to reopen
at press time.
