Referred to as the “Gateway to the World” for centuries, Hamburg, Germany, has grown tremendously in its scope. Just last year, Hamburg’s airport served approximately 12.8 million passengers and, with increased airlift, the destination is hoping to see those numbers increase.
One of the more recent airlift options for U.S. travelers interested in exploring Germany’s second-largest city is Continental Airlines’ nonstop flight from New York/Newark. The airline’s Boeing 757 departs daily at 5:30 p.m., arriving at Hamburg Airport at 7:45 a.m. the following day. The return flight leaves at 9:00 a.m. and reaches New York at 11:40 a.m. The long-haul route has proved a success, with a growth of 128 percent in passenger volume since the route was introduced, according to Continental Airlines.
Newark is also a Continental Airlines hub for the Americas. Therefore, passengers can connect via one of the carrier’s 200 direct flights from destinations throughout North, Central and South America.
