Hilton Hotels Corp., in concert with the Hilton Hawaiian Village
Beach Resort & Spa, is experimenting with a service that
enables guests to check in and pick up their room keys at the
airport while waiting for their luggage. Hilton installed four
kiosks in baggage areas G and H at Honolulu Airport.
The check-in system, developed by IBM, serves passengers on
American, Continental, Northwest and United airlines who are
staying at the resort, which is the only Hilton on the island.
Dieter Huckestein, president of hotel operations for Hilton Hotels
Corp., said the chain is looking into rolling out the new
technology in other locations around the country “in the near
future.” Hilton guest-service agents are on site to assist
travelers and answer questions about the check-in process.
