Can Hooters rescue Vanguard Airlines? Hooters of America Chairman
Robert Brooks is considering whether to purchase the carrier, which
filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and stopped flying July
30.
Brooks received bankruptcy court approval to put up $50,000 a
week for three weeks to pay a skeleton staff, increasing Vanguard’s
employee count from 19 to 29, while he makes up his mind. A
follow-up court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.
In addition to his Hooters connection, Brooks in 1966 founded
Eastern Foods, which makes and distributes Naturally Fresh and
Jackaroo brands of salad dressing.
