ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK
Peggy Peterka, western region marketing manager for the Tourism
Authority of Thailand, and TravelAge West’s Editor-in-Chief, Ken
Shapiro, partied in Bangkok at the kick-off celebration for the
2006 Thailand Grand Invitation Campaign. The gala reception, held
on the beautiful grounds of the Thai Ku Fa Government House, was
attended by local VIPs and foreign dignitaries, and was highlighted
by speeches from the Thai Minister of Tourism, as well as the
country’s Prime Minister. The year-long Grand Invitation campaign
will include a series of special events across the country in honor
of the 60th anniversary of the Thai monarch’s ascension to the
throne.
TRAVELSAVERS' MAZZA GETS PROMOTION

Nicole Mazza has been promoted to chief marketing officer for
Travelsavers worldwide organization.
In her new role, she will oversee all marketing initiatives and
will maintain relationships with preferred suppliers. Mazza will
also focus on establishing and implementing marketing programs to
boost sales and maximize profits for suppliers and Travelsavers’
international travel agency database.
OBEROI WELCOMES TWO NEW GMS
Oberoi Hotels and Resorts has appointed Pierre Berclaz general
manager of the Oberoi Bali, and Sjefke Jansen has been named GM for
the Oberoi, Mauritius. Berclaz, a native of Switzerland, has held
previous management positions in Europe and in Israel, and has a
wealth of international hospitality experience. Most recently, he
was the general manager for the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem,
where he worked for five years.
Jansen’s career includes management positions in South Africa,
Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the Maldives. Prior to joining Oberoi,
he held the position of resort manager for One&Only Reethi Rah,
Maldives.
GRIEDER JOINS NACTA

The National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents (NACTA) has
announced Alleigh Grieder as their new director of sales and
marketing. Grieder comes to NACTA from Globus, where she worked as
home-based channel manager. As director of sales and marketing,
Grieder will be responsible for creating and implementing
strategies that provide members with more local representation and
ongoing chapter meetings. She will also identify and cultivate
relationships with organizations that have a vested interest in
educating and communicating with NACTA’s travel agent members.
