Happy Vacation’s top agents from Colorado and the San Francisco
Bay Area participated in Hawaii’s Big Island Destination Specialist
program Oct. 7-12.
The group paused for a photo aboard the brand-new 55-foot
Teknicraft vessel, Hula Kai. Hula Kai takes guests to unique marine
locations along the spectacular Kona Coast for snorkeling, scuba,
snuba, whale watching and sightseeing.
Happy Vacations has one additional Big Island Destination
Specialist Program scheduled for Hawaii’s Big Island, Dec. 3-8.

Rail Europe Gets New VP
Rail Europe Group has appointed Peter Rahaman vice president of
operations. Rahaman will be responsible for the strategic
management and development of operations for the company. He
oversees the EuroGroups division and replaces Kevin Meade.
Before coming to Rail Europe, Rahaman worked at VisitBritain for 15
years. He has over 28 years of experience in the travel
industry.

Nicholson New GM at Ritz
Martin Nicholson joins the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel and Spa
as the new general manager at the conclusion of a $19 million
renovation of 292 guestrooms, ballrooms, public spaces and exterior
grounds.
“I am thrilled to work with such an extraordinary group of
ladies and gentlemen,” said Nicholson. “The level of dedication and
genuine care our employees provide for our guests is heartwarming
and exceptionally rare.”
Nicholson most recently served as the general manager of the
Ritz-Carlton in Rose Hall, Jamaica.

ResortQuest Hawaii Names New GM
Clinton Owen has been named the new general manager for
ResortQuest Hawaii’s Islander on the Beach, a newly renovated
198-room hotel in Kapaa, Kauai.
Owen has worked for ResortQuest for six years, and was
previously the real estate sales coordinator for the hotel and
general manager of ResortQuest Maui Condominium & Homes. He has
12 years of experience in the hospitality industry in Hawaii.

Flattery Moves to Hawaii
Marriott International has announced that Connie Flattery will
be the new area director of sales and marketing for Pacific Islands
and Japan. She succeeds Paul Toner who is now the vice president of
sales and marketing for Asia Pacific.
Most recently, Flattery served as area director of sales and
marketing for the Caribbean and Mexico and was based in Somerset,
N.J. She will now work in Hawaii.
Previously, Flattery worked in Hawaii with the management team
that opened the Maui Marriott Resort, the first Marriott property
in the Islands.
