Los Angeles World Airports is encouraging travel agents and other industry professionals to notify their customers traveling to Los Angeles during the Interstate 405 closure, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 29-30, that traffic in the area may be disrupted.
In observance of “Carmageddon II,” airport officials are encouraging travelers to stay off the roads and ride the rails using Metro Rail and Metro Link. They also recommend that agents advise clients traveling to the airport on these days to use FlyAway service from Union Station, shared-ride vans, the Metro Green Line, long-distance van services and more to reduce the number of cars on the roadways.
The Van Nuys FlyAway service will be in operation, but will use alternate routes to reach the airport. www.lawa.org
