Thrifty Honors Honeymoon Horrors
Next time your clients complain that their honeymoon didn’t go as planned, tell them about newlyweds Lynn and Steven Curran of Chester, Md. After all, honeymoons are supposed to be the celebration of a new life together not an episode of “When Animals Attack.”
Their Cancun honeymoon started off with Lynn and Steven accidentally running naked on a beach after a run-in with a jellyfish. That incident was followed by a close encounter with an alligator after a wrong turn at the zoo. Next was a case of Montezuma’s revenge ... and a case of mistaken identity. Just when they thought it was safe to go into the water, Lynn suffered a barracuda bite.
“I gained 10 pounds in one week and came home with a lot to talk about,” said Lynn.
In honor of their beast-plagued honeymoon, the couple was recently crowned the grand-prize winner of Thrifty Car Rental’s 10th Annual Honeymoon Disasters Contest.
For surviving their postnuptial trauma, Lynn and Steven were awarded a second honeymoon courtesy of Thrifty Car Rental, the contest sponsor. Prizes include roundtrip airfare to a destination in the continental U.S. of their choice, three nights hotel accommodations, a four-day car rental from Thrifty and $500 spending money.
