Just a week before a trial was to begin, the trustee in the
Renaissance Cruise Line bankruptcy case dropped his lawsuits
against four ASTA members, according to ASTA. In dismissing his
suits with prejudice against Brentwood Travel Service of St. Louis;
Crossroads Travel of Olathe, Kan.; Destinations Unlimited of
Florence, Ky.; and Duluth (Minn.) Travel Agency, the trustee no
longer will attempt to recall any commissions these agencies were
paid by Renaissance for selling cruises that did not sail because
the cruise line ceased operations.
The four agencies were part of a class action brought by seven
ASTA member agencies for the purpose of stopping the recall suits
against agencies being sued on the same grounds. The four agencies
were those remaining that had not previously settled. According to
ASTA, the dismissal with prejudice bars the trustee from any
further suit against these agencies on the same grounds.
