Sceptre Tours, a Rockville, N.Y.-based operator of tours to
Ireland, resigned from the U.S. Tour Operators Association (USTOA),
effective Oct. 19.
Purchases made with Sceptre prior to Oct. 19 are still covered
by the USTOA’s Traveler Assistance program, which includes the $1
million Consumer Protection Plan, according to the association.
However, those made from Oct. 19 forward will not be covered.
According to Chris Accomando, Sceptre Tours’ vice president, the
company chose to drop its USTOA membership because Sceptre has an
alternative consumer protection plan.
