The Oahu Visitors Bureau will conduct an Oahu Travel Specialist
seminar at the ASTA World Travel Congress in Honolulu in November.
“The seminar is offered to select cities in the United States
throughout the year,” said Stacey Martin, director of travel
industry sales for the OVB. “Travel agents who have been unable to
attend these seminars are now able to take advantage of this rare
opportunity.”
Martin said this will be the first time the OVB will hold a
specialist seminar at an ASTA World Congress.
The seminar is the first step to a four-step training program
designed to give travel agents in-depth knowledge about Oahu as a
destination, in addition to providing the sales tools and support
to increase their Hawaii sales and travel agency revenue.
Attendees of the Oahu specialist seminar at the congress will be
given handouts to complete after the seminar. Those who have
completed the handouts correctly will qualify for Level II of the
program, which will allow them to return to Oahu in 2003 for an
on-island program.
Any agent who has registered for the congress can attend. To
register, visit http://astanet.com/conference.
The ASTA Congress will also offer a number of other destination
specialist programs.
The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau will conduct a Ke Kula
‘O Hawaii program for an overall Hawaii specialist designation.
The South Pacific, Ireland, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Puerto Rico
and Amtrak are also doing specialist programs, as are the officials
from the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial event.
