A recent American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) Travel Agency Business Trends survey found that consumer interest in travel remains high for the winter and spring travel seasons, with many U.S. travelers planning to take cruises and/or head to the Caribbean and Europe.
For winter travel, the study found that 84 percent of agents surveyed said their clients were considering a cruise; 63 percent said their clients were interested in the Caribbean. Mexico (49 percent), Hawaii (36 percent) and ski vacations (14 percent) rounded out the list of desired winter vacation destinations.
For spring travel, 77 percent of ASTA agents said their clients were considering taking a cruise and 54 percent said their clients were interested in traveling to the Caribbean. Europe (53 percent), Mexico (48 percent) and Hawaii (36 percent) made up the rest of the list.
