Trendsetters Awards Call for Entries 1-22-2003

Being a trendsetter takes effort. But gaining recognition for it has gotten easier with a two-step process and a new, streamlined option for entering TravelAge West’s fourth annual Trendsetters of the West Travel Agency Achievement Awards.

Entries are being accepted now. Agents can either go to Entry Form and print out the entry form, complete it and send or fax it to the address or fax number shown at the top; or they can send an e-mail to [email protected] with the information requested.

Awards will be presented at TravelAge West’s annual trade show in Las Vegas, June 5-7.

Honors will go to the best and brightest travel agents or agencies (one first-place recipient and one runner-up) in the three categories: Best Revenue Booster, Best Internet Marketing Effort and Best Community Service Effort.

Winners will receive award certificates and travel prizes at the Trendsetters luncheon, held during the trade show, and will be featured in a “Spotlight: Trendsetters in the West” supplement in the June 2 issue of TravelAge West.

Last year, prizes included Viking River Cruises and Club Med vacation packages.

Entries must be received by Jan. 31.

TravelAge West editors will choose as many as five finalists in each category. Finalists will be asked to submit materials supporting their entries for the final judging. Materials will not be returned.

Each entry must be for the work of a single agency or a small, local chain based in the 13 Western states and Texas. National chains and franchises are not eligible.

Entries from agencies that are part of national chains or franchises cannot be programs created by, or adapted from, those organizations; they must be original and created by individual agencies.

A previous Trendsetters Awards winner may receive the same award for the same category, but only if the current entry is completely different from the one previously honored.

Categories and Criteria

" Best Revenue Booster How have you/your agency used a marketing campaign, special event or other creative means to increase revenue?

" Best Internet Marketing Effort How have you/your agency used the Internet to market the agency, via a Web site, creative use of e-mail or other means?

" Best Community Service Effort How have you/your agency contributed to your community or a special cause without any intention of benefiting the agency? (This is strictly a community service award.)

In addition, all entries will be judged on concept, creativity and implementation.

The fourth criteria in the Revenue and Internet categories will be the quantifiable increase in business; in the Community Service category, it will be the amount of money raised or service provided.

DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL JANUARY 31, 2003.
