U.S. Travel Association Appoints New Chairs

The U.S. Travel Association has announced the appointments of John Edman as chair of the association’s National Council of State Tourism Directors (NCSTD), Barbara Steinfeld as the chair of the Destinations Council and Marilyn Hannes as chair of the National Council of Attractions.

John Edman leads Minnesota’s promotion and marketing efforts as the director of Explore Minnesota Tourism, the state’s public-private tourism organization. Edman has also served as vice chair for the U.S. Travel’s state tourism council for the past two years.

Barbara Steinfeld, vice president of tourism sales at Travel Portland, has worked to promote the area to domestic and international visitors. Steinfeld has previously served as vice chair for the U.S. Travel’s Destinations Council.

Marilyn Hannes gained her experience as the vice president of marketing for SeaWorld San Diego where she is responsible for sales and marking for the San Diego park.

Other appointments include Margot Amelia, the executive director of the Maryland Office of Tourism, who will serve as the NCSTD’s vice chair; Jay Burress, president and CEO of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau (Texas), who will serve as vice chair to the Destinations Council; and Liz Dion, vice president of marketing, Southeast region, for Premium Outlets, who will serve as vice chair for the Council of Attractions. www.ustravel.org
