AmaWaterways Announces AmaCerto Details for 2012

Jul 20, 2011

AmaWaterways has announced the details of the design of its 164-passenger AmaCerto, which will debut in Europe next year. The 164-passenger vessel will take the innovative design concepts of the AmaBella and AmaVerde a step further.

Using classical ocean yachts as an inspiration, the AmaCerto will feature distinctive elements such as a glass elevator, an al fresco cafe in the forward portion of the ship shielded by a protective glass windbreaker, a heated swimming pool on the Sun Deck with a swim-up bar, as well as two tapas and wine venues. Additionally, there will be a Chef’s Table Restaurant, which will have its own chef and offer a different tasting menu each evening.

The AmaCerto will have the same twin-balcony design that Ama recently introduced onboard the AmaBella and AmaVerde. These ships, which have been operating in the Australian market, will be available to North American passengers for the first time this fall from October to December. During this time, clients will be able to experience the designs of the AmaCerto, which will operate in the North American market year-round.

The majority of the AmaCerto’s stateroom categories have twin balcony staterooms ranging in size from 210-square-foot standard staterooms to the 350-square-foot suites.
The twin balcony accommodations include a French balcony plus a full step-out balcony.

With a palette of crisp white and champagne with apricot and bronze accents, the AmaCerto’s staterooms will have the feel of a modern hotel, and there are unusual design elements such as a window between the bathroom and the stateroom, tufted headboards and Berber-style carpets. Staterooms also have the exclusive AmaWaterways Infotainment System, with a flat-panel television and keyboard with complimentary Internet access and first-run Hollywood movies, as well as access to dozens of English-language television shows via satellite and music stations.

“We are extremely proud to mark the 10th anniversary of AmaWaterways with the launch of the AmaCerto,” said president Rudi Schreiner. “She truly represents a new generation of ship design, with a distinctive exterior and interior that surpasses any other vessel ever seen on European rivers. We’ve worked closely to custom-design a beautiful vessel that will set new standards in the industry for many years to come.”

Like other AmaWaterways vessels in Europe, AmaCerto’s membership in the Chaine des Rotisseurs insures an excellent gastronomic experience onboard, whether guests choose to dine in the main dining room or in any of the alternative venues.

AmaCerto also features a cozy fireside library, an Observation Lounge, a 24-hour specialty coffee and tea station, a fitness center, a massage area, a hair and beauty salon and a fleet of bicycles for guests to use on their own or during complimentary guided bicycle tours. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is available throughout the vessel for those guests who choose to bring laptops, iPads or smartphones.

AmaCerto’s inaugural cruise will be a Tulip Time sailing, departing on April 12, 2012. Thereafter, the vessel will sail the company’s most popular itineraries, including Romantic Danube, Legendary Danube, Blue Danube Discovery, Magnificent Europe and Christmas Time Cruise.

In addition to its expanding fleet in Europe, AmaWaterways introduced the newly redesigned 212-passenger AmaKatarina on the Volga-Baltic Waterway in Russia in May and will launch the new 124-passenger AmaLotus on the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia in September, joining the company’s 2009 La Marguerite in cruising between Siem Reap, Cambodia, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
