European Waterways, Europe’s largest luxury hotel barge cruising company, has announced the latest addition to its fleet, Absoluut2, a charter-only eight-passenger hotel barge that cruises in southern Burgundy between Dijon and Vandenesse. Absoluut2 is targeted for families, groups of friends or colleagues interested in the privacy of a whole-boat charter.
“Catering exclusively to those who want to ‘book a boat’ for themselves, Absoluut2 provides a personalized experience where families and other groups can tailor a cruise to their own needs and interests,” said Derek Banks, managing director.
Absoluut2 has a saloon and dining area, two sun decks and a spa pool. Accommodations include two junior suites and two staterooms that can be configured as either double or twin beds, and a four-person crew that caters to guests. Charters onboard Absoluut2 include gourmet meals, fine wines, an open bar, all excursions and transfers, plus a bicycle onboard for every passenger.
Cruise highlights include tours of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, and Dijon, home to the former Ducal Palace and the Cathedral of Saint Benign. Guests will also visit the medieval village of Chateauneuf-en-Auxois and the Chateau de Commarin, and enjoy a private wine tour and tasting at the renowned Chateau de Meursault.
