In 2013, Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic will continue as the exclusive U.S. tour operator of the Delfin II with 38 departures aboard the 28-passenger riverboat that operates 10-day cruises in the Peruvian-Amazon, exploring Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve.
Lindblad began its relationship with Delfin Amazon Cruises in 2010 and more than doubled its inventory in 2012 with an increase to 38 departures. Now, starting with the first cruise in January 2013, all Delfin II Amazon sailings will have a Lindblad-National Geographic Certified Photo Instructor onboard (prior to this time, this feature was not available on the line’s charters.).
Built in 2009, the Delfin ll is a 120-foot luxury river vessel with a modern design using fine Peruvian woods. Guest accommodations include four master suites and 10 suites, four of which can be interconnected to accommodate families. All have panoramic views of the stunning scenery.
The dining room, observation deck, bar, reference library and wooden slat hammock sun deck are all lined with hardwoods and feature handicrafts by the local people.
Delfin II is the only vessel on the Peruvian Amazon with a fleet of kayaks, allowing guests to safely explore the river in a unique way, and the ship’s elegant dining is prepared almost entirely from local ingredients from the rainforest.
Rates for the 10-day Upper Amazon: Exploring Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve cruises begin at $5,590 per person, double for 2012 departures, and $5,870 for 2013 departures. Guests can opt for pre- or post-cruise expeditions to the Galapagos or Machu Picchu, or a post-cruise extension to Paracas and the Nasca Lines.
