Alta Ski Area in Utah opened for its first ski season in 1939, and this January will mark its 75th year of operation. In honor of the milestone, the resort will host special offers and events throughout the month of January.
On Jan. 15 at 6 p.m., Alta will offer a Torchlight Parade & Fireworks Show, and the Alta Historical Society and Alta Community Enrichment will offer a variety of evening activities during the course of the month.
Many area lodges will be offering special anniversary packages and parties in honor of Alta's landmark birthday as well. Participating properties include Alta Peruvian Lodge, Alta's Rustler Lodge, Blackjack Condominium Lodge, Goldminer's Daughter Lodge, Superior Point Condos and The View Condominiums.
Participants in the 75 Seasons of Alta Getaway Sweepstakes, can win a grand prize all-inclusive ski vacation for two to Alta, including two nights lodging and meals, two days of free skiing and more. The grand prize winner will be drawn on Jan. 15. The second prize will include two nights' lodging in Alta and be drawn on Feb. 15. The third prize includes two days of free skiing for two and will be drawn on Feb. 28. The sweepstakes can be entered online.
