Located in the San Bernardino National Forest, Lake Arrowhead is an easy escape for residents of Los Angeles and Orange County. The unincorporated community is bursting with activity options year-round, from skiing, tubing and ice-skating to hiking, cycling and fishing.
But one of the best ways to see the picturesque area is from the water — specifically, a boat tour onboard the Lake Arrowhead Queen paddleboat.
The one-hour narrated tour around the lake — during which the captain cracks corny jokes a la Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise — provides a history of the area, along with a look at the enormous current and former homes of celebrities such as Brian Wilson, Shirley Temple, Tom Selleck, Michelle Kwan, Sammy Hagar, Doris Day, Liberace and Dick Clark, among many others.
On a clear, sunny day, a trip on the shimmering water is a magical way to immerse in the beauty of Lake Arrowhead. Just bring a pair of sunglasses and a sense of humor.
Note: Several tours are offered daily (year-round, weather permitting), and tickets are available at Leroy’s, which is located in Lake Arrowhead Village near the tour boat boarding area.
