Through the end of October, Boise, Idaho, is holding the Fall for Boise festival to celebrate the city’s vibrant arts and cultural offerings. The Boise City Department of Arts & History leads this effort with help from Downtown Boise Association, Capital City Development Corporation, the Boise City Office of the Mayor and the Idaho Tourism Council. These partners work together to promote awareness of special events and performances held in Boise during the months of September and October.
With the After Five Summer Concert Series, visitors can enjoy live music, food and vendor booths every Wednesday in September at the Grove Plaza in downtown. The free, family-friendly event takes place from 5-8 p.m. weekly. The plaza will also be the venue for the Fall for Boise Finale of music, dance and poetry on the evening of Oct. 23.
The Capital City Public Market is held on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through Oct. 30 in downtown Boise. Visitors will find local, fresh produce, baked goods, prepared foods, art and handicrafts. Live performances, organized by the Boise City Department of Arts & History and sponsored by Capital City Development Corporation, also take place.
On Oct. 2 and 3, the Idaho Botanical Garden is hosting the Fall Harvest Festival, an outdoor event for the whole family. Adults can sample fall favorites from local vendors such as fall brews, wine and fresh cider, while kids can play games, enter contests and take a hay ride. Decorative scarecrow displays and a pumpkin patch help set the mood.
Downtown Boise will further put its arts and cultural offerings on display as local galleries and stores extend their hours of operation and hold special events on the evening of Oct. 7.
“In a community called the City of Trees, autumn is a season of profound change and incredible beauty,” Mayor David H. Bieter said in a statement. “Hardly a day in September or October goes by without offering another home-grown opportunity to be inspired and entertained.”
