On May 27, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Calif., will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with fireworks and activities for all ages at the Golden Gate Festival.
The free public event, spanning over four miles of the San Francisco Bay waterfront, will include music, art displays and a cavalcade of automobiles from 1937 to 2012 — symbolic of the bridge’s existence. The event will start at 11 a.m. and end at approximately 9:30 p.m. Locations of the event include Crissy Field and Marina Green. Other activities will take place at Presidio, Fort Mason Center, Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39.
In addition to the Golden Gate Festival, San Francisco will be hosting its annual Memorial Day ceremonies that weekend, which include the San Francisco Offside Festival, California Academy of Sciences’ Earthquake exhibit, Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, “Spanning Borders; Bridging Cultures” Carnaval, Treasure Island Flea Marketplace, Golden Gate Park Band, USS San Francisco Memorial, Alcatraz Challenge Swim, Presidio Memorial Day Celebration and the Submarine “Lost Boat” Ceremony.
