Gig Harbor’s Maritime Inn has recently reopened, having completed a $275,000 renovation.
Each of the inn’s guestrooms has been outfitted with air-jetted tubs, flat-screen televisions and in-room refrigerators. New colors, carpeting, wood floors and tile work were chosen to complement existing gas fireplaces and make the rooms more inviting. Interiors also feature new bedding.
Joanie Mitton and Jannae Jolibois, co-owners of the 15-room property, said they hope the renovation will satisfy repeat clients and attract new visitors to the seaside Washington village. After interviewing guests, researching hospitality trends and visiting lodging establishments throughout the country, Mitton and Jolibois hired local designer Rebecca Knowlden, of Becca Interiors, as general contractor for the project.
“Our goal was to create a boutique feel,” said Mitton. “Rebecca was able to bring our ideas into focus and reach that goal.”
In 2007, the Maritime Inn was voted the best local inn in Gig Harbor by the readers of the Peninsula Gateway newspaper. Open since 1995, the harbor-front hotel is an entirely non-smoking facility. Handicap rooms are available and clients enjoy complimentary parking as well.
