With spring right around the corner — and spring fever soon to follow —California’s Napa Valley offers tourists a variety of opportunities to get out and enjoy the sun.
Beginning April 29, the Land Trust of Napa County will offer a free six-mile hike up Maggie’s Peak. The Maggie’s Peak Trail Run includes a trip up the mountainside to visit Devil’s Well waterfall and a century-old redwood grove. This spring will also see the start of the Land Trust’s Member Series program, which allows people to experience everything from a 90-minute yoga and meditation session at Archer Taylor Preserve to field trips that involve lessons in outdoor art and photography. These trips all take place on some of the 26,000 acres of protected Napa Valley land.
On March 24, Velo Vino will take bikers on a 40-mile trek through Franz loop, serving Clif Family wines along the way. On April 21, the bike-and-wine experience moves to the 38-mile Old Toll Road route. Also, from April, Di Rosa Museum will be offering a series of Spring Nature Hikes, allowing guests to take guided hikes to the top of Milliken Peak, the highest summit in Napa Valley’s Carneros region.
There is also the Hike the Day Away package at the eco-friendly and LEED Platinum certified Bardessono hotel in Yountville. This package includes an annual membership for two with the Land Trust of Napa County, providing access to hiking on private lands.
