Clients who want to experience Portland like a local can now see it on two wheels courtesy of Pedal Bike Tours. The new activity spins through the city’s history, coffee houses, green architecture and bike friendly lanes while demonstrating why Portland is the largest Platinum level bicycle friendly community in the country.
“Our goal is to show people how easy, fun and rewarding it can be to get around on a bike as a way of experiencing the city,” says Todd Roll, founder of Pedal Bike Tours, which launched in Fall 2008. “We’re here as a resource for locals and visitors alike. We offer everything from bike rentals, to private guided tours, to free public rides.”
Pedal Bike Tours offers door-to-door bike rental – ideal for visitors – as well as five guided tours that highlight Portland’s unique attributes and interesting neighborhoods. Guided tours include:

“No spandex is required,” says Roll. “No special skills, gear or fitness level is needed to ride a bike around town. We want to emphasize how easy it is to hop on a bike and go.”
Portland boasts the highest commuter population of any U.S. city, with tens of thousands riding regularly. Situated a mile from downtown, and located on one of Portland’s busiest bike commuter streets where thousands whiz by each day, Pedal Bike Tours is centrally located for access to downtown, the Willamette River, and burgeoning northeast neighborhoods.
Pedal Bike Tours shares a space with Metropolis Cycles, a new full service bike shop and repair business owned by Roll’s brother and certified mechanic, Nathan Roll.
