Salt Lake-Boise Express Launched

Sep 29, 2009

With support from Fly Sun Valley Alliance, Sun Valley Resort and the Sun Valley/Ketchum CVB, a new daily van shuttle service, the Salt Lake/Boise Express will begin transporting visitors and local residents between the Wood River Valley and the Boise Airport beginning Dec. 1.

For 2009/10 the Salt Lake/Boise Express will operate 3 daily shuttles between Sun Valley and Boise during the peak winter season (December 1-April 1); 3 daily shuttles during the peak summer season (June 15-September 15) and 2 daily shuttles to Boise via Twin Falls during the remainder of the year. Fares will be $40 one-way for an adult, $30 for a child 3-12, and free for children under 3. Reservations can be made as of Sept. 1.

The shuttle will have 2 pick-up/drop-off points in the valley, the first at the Sun Valley Lodge and the second at the Wood River Inn in Hailey.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with an experienced transportation company that will provide more frequent, reasonably priced yet quality experience for both our visitors and local residents who fly in/out of Boise”, noted Carol Waller, SVKCVB Executive Director. Waller noted that Boise is an increasingly important air service hub for the Wood River Valley and improving public transit to/from there will help improve the valley’s overall economy.

Salt Lake Express, an Idaho company based in Rexburg that has been in operation for the past 9 years, will operate this shuttle service. Company representatives are excited to add this prime route to their growing transportation shuttle network that operates an extensive daily transit service throughout eastern and southern Idaho, serving both the Salt Lake City and Boise airports and many points in-between. “We are looking forward to starting this new service and being a strong transportation partner with the Sun Valley area. We are proud of the top-quality level and value of service we provide at every step of the process, from making reservations, to having a wonderful experience on the ride, “ exclaimed Kathy Pope, sales manager for Salt Lake Express.

Pope noted that the Salt Lake/Boise Express will operate primarily with 16 passenger Mercedes Sprinter Vans and 29 passenger ABC mini-busses, although 36, 47 and 56 luxury commercial coaches may also be used according to passenger demand. All vehicles are equipped with DVD players and the SVKCVB and SV Resort are working on providing various videos on the Sun Valley area that will play on the Boise-Sun Valley route, as well as providing area orientation training to the drivers so that first-time visitors will feel welcomed and informed on their way to the valley.
