School may have started, but clients can still book summer-style whitewater rafting excursions in the Yakima Valley.
Throughout September, Osprey Rafting Company is leading clients on wet and wild whitewater trips along the Tieton River. Thanks to a seasonal dam release from Rimrock Lake, the Tieton offers a fast ride for 12 miles, highlighted by Class III rapids.
Morning trips start at 9 a.m. and include a barbecue lunch after the float. Afternoon adventures, beginning at 1 p.m., come with lunch before the trip. Both excursions cost $75 per person, which includes transportation to and from the staging area, 24 miles west of Yakima and 12 miles up the river. Wetsuits, paddles, helmets, lifejackets, instructions and a safety talk are part of the deal.
