If you have clients who are searching for the holiday spirit this season, they might just find some in the Lone Star State, thanks to the plethora of activities the state has arranged for the holiday season.
“Texas is the perfect holiday getaway destination, offering an array of distinctive events and activities” says Julie Chase, director of tourism for the Texas Office of the Governor. Texas is keeping its holiday traditions alive this season by filling the months of November and December with long-held festivities that have been a part of Texas history for years. This winter, Texas is inviting visitors to come and share the range of exciting activities it celebrates, suitable for all members of the family. Events include tree-lighting festivals, concerts, parades and train rides.
Clients can kick off the start of December by attending The Christmas Holiday Festival and Parade that takes place from Dec. 3-7 and includes a Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony, a parade, outdoor holiday movies, a children’s holiday party, ice skating and a choir concert.
Christmas in the Square is also a great way to get the family involved and excited about the season along with the estimated 350,000 people that will also be experiencing the largest choreographed holiday light show in Texas. The whole family can get involved by participating in the carriage rides, snow machine rides, outdoor movies and a snow slide.
Visitors and residents alike can also start new traditions, or keep an old one, while celebrating the season with a visit to Schlitterbahn’s Hill Country Christmas Event. During this winter season, more than 1 million lights will blanket the town of Schlitterbahn, illuminating the holiday cheer. Clients can enjoy sledding on “faux snow,” viewing a 60ft. Nativity Scene, visiting reindeer in the reindeer barn and feasting on festive food.
The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a train ride, either, so when visiting Texas this winter, train enthusiasts should check out the Polar Express Train Ride, where riders can embark on a journey filled with Christmas carols, hot chocolate, a reading of The Polar Express and a meeting with Santa Claus.
