During the holiday months in Tucson, Ariz., luminaria displays decorate many public and commercial spaces, including the Tohono Chul Park. For four evenings called Holiday Nights, the botanical gardens will be decorated for a family-friendly celebration of the winter holidays. On the nights of Nov. 25 and 26 and Dec. 2 and 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the park will be lit up with more than 750,000 holiday lights as well as a desert-proof snowman.
Guests are encouraged to stroll the park’s gardens and trails, with hot cider or wine in tow. The events will also feature live stage performances. Performing in November are Joe Bourne, Desert Melodies, Ballet Tucson’s “Nutcracker in a Nutshell” and Kids Unlimited’s “Hope for the Holidays. December’s performers are Way Out West, Gabriel Ayala and the Southern Arizona Women’s Chorus. Guests can also get into the holiday mode by purchasing gifts at the Holiday for the Park ornament sale and silent auction.
Tickets purchased before Nov. 15 are $8 for members and $12 for non-members. Tickets purchased after Nov. 15 are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Tickets for children 12 and under are $2. Call 520-742-6455 ext. 0 to purchase tickets.
